The special at Mark's Drive In in Stadium Mall on this day was the chicken katsu, teri chicken plate combo for $7.75. If that sounds expensive, that's actually a deal these days in Honolulu. Mark's executes both chicken recipes to the fullest. Perfectly crispy and tender chicken katsu. The teri chicken had the perfect carmelized char. Exquisite.
My only question is why they don't use the more common katsu sauce instead of the watery, Chinese-style sauce. The latter lacks any punch, doesn't work for me on the katsu. Other than that, this was filling as heck.
