When I head to Okata Bento every couple months or so, it comes with a bit of precaution. Do I have change on me for the metered parking? Am I really in the mood for Oyako Donburi? Or is this the day I finally try something —anything — new? So this was the day. I stared at that classic menu and went with the Chicken Katsu Bento. But I also ordered a grilled ham and cheese, partly out of curiousity. The Boss Cook was alone, churning out order after order, but the time went by quickly for this pupule. I'll always enjoy a momentary getaway up Waialae Ave.
The bento? Outstanding. It wasn't the biggest, but I'm not about large portions these days. The balance is extraordinary. It would fit nicely for anyone who has spent a lifetime searching for the perfect last bite. I'm not one of those folks. But proportion does not hurt. At all.
