In the hands of a lesser director and cast, there would’ve been a dozen ways to ruin this. Instead, the pacing is perfect for each situation. Great popcorn flick, but not digestible for those who don’t like a lot of blood and stabbing.
The dynamics of these relationships, the lead cop, the gangster boss, and their second-in-charge henchmen — all well orchestrated. This is one of the better executed anti-hero plot lines on film. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised or so easily impressed, but this is another winner from Korea. #thegangsterthecopthedevil
