Barbara Okita's half-century at Pauuilo and Hilo

This a 1988 article in the Hawaii Tribune-Herald about former Paauilo Post Office employee Barbara Okita, who later became postmaster at Hilo. Mahalo, Jerry Campany, a.k.a. Mad Librarian.

So many questions. How did she get started at Paauilo? Did she still live there when she began working at the Hilo Post Office? Did she always want to become a postmaster? What did she miss about the old days?

She seemed like someone who truly enjoyed serving the people of Paauilo and Hilo. She liked staying busy. I wonder if she had a bucket list for her retirement years.
