I've only been here twice, but this is something slightly smelly and totally alluring.
Another quick, late-night pit stop at Iyasume Musubi Cafe was useful. In the half-price tray was this Takuan/Spam musubi. Takuan is daikon, a radish, and more. The pickled scent is a combination of tart, sour and, for some reason, something fermenting. It's not for everybody, kind of like natto, just not as extreme. I don't like natto at all, but takuan is tasty. So the sight of this thick slice in the musubi was irresistible for someone who likes it and hadn't seen it like this before.
The regular price: $2.36. Half price, a good deal. Gone in 60 seconds.
