Letter-of-intent day arrived and Keonilei Akana had, perhaps, the most magnificent backdrop for a signing anywhere in the state.
Maybe anywhere in the country. The Kamehameha senior signed with national powerhouse Nebraska, completing a journey with a twist.
"I’m super excited! It’s a great feeling knowing that it’s official and now I am able to prepare physically, mentally, athletically to become a Husker," said Akana, the Star-Advertiser Girls Volleyball All-State player of the year.
She originally committed to USC, but got a release after the coach departed for Auburn.
Akana continues to work out at home with older sister, Braelyn, who plays for Hawaii.
