Before & After: Manoa, Palolo Streams junction

Maintenance work at the junction of Manoa and Palolo Streams. The pathway was quite narrow before the cleanup. When I shot some photos on Apr. 13, I didn't notice how wide the channel really is.

Getting that backhoe down the slope must require major skills and experience. They got the foliage whacked. Job well done. If they remove the buildup of sediment, that naturally helps with future flood mitigation. But how would the massive buildup be removed? Also wondering if the foliage down from this spot will also be cleared. There's a lot, all the way to the Kapiolani Blvd. bridge and beyond.
