Director/actor Lynn Shelton passed away on Friday. The praise she received spurred my interest, so I found Sword on Showtime and dug in.
This is precisely the kind of quality story and comedy that’s rarely at the theaters. It starts in Alabama and ends in another Southern state. Along the way, the plot unfolds and we see what the survival instincts and a lust for money can lead to. Add a conspiracy theory about the sword proving that the South actually won the Civil War and things become loopy in an understated, amusing way.
Looking forward to catching up on more of Shelton’s movies. RIL Lynn Shelton.
