They had 100 players, boys and girls, 4th grade to JV, practicing today. Started 10 am. Hokulele will be at this weekend’s Hoop Dreams Invitational at Panaewa Park.
Here are two Hokulele 4th graders, Loaa Kaupu (Coach Ravel’s nephew) and Nakai Dawson-Reyes. Great shooting strokes at a young age.
Ka’u hoops on the rise. I’m really enjoying seeing former players like Ravel stepping up as coaches at the youth and HS level. Especially in smaller communities like Pahala/Naalehu, Kohala, Lahaina. What grew at Kona with the Stingrays has influenced a new generation.
