Entertainment value for sure. Jake Gyllenhaal as the co-hero before the predictable plot twist works, but there was a lot of CGI overload because of the foundation of who he is.
Aside from that, it has been almost forever since a Spider-Man movie gave Peter Parker’s teenage love life this much attention — and it works. Zenaya’s MJ is the perfect offbeat fit to dorky/brainy/gullible Peter.
My pal @fatlark says actor Tom Holland has one more Spidey film under contract. Will the next one delve into the original tragedy of MJ from the comic book? Will there be a Gwen Stacy?
